MEIBC: Consolidated Main Agreement extended.

Dear Steel Industry employer

 

The Minister of Employment of Labour, today, extended the Consolidated Main Agreement to non-parties in the Industry.

 

The extension is effective as of 17 October 2022.

 

The effect of this is that all employers in the Metal and Engineering Industry must comply with the provisions of this agreement from 17 October 2022.

 

The Agreement was extended despite strenuous objections from NEASA as to why it should not or cannot be extended.

 

NEASA will engage its legal team in respect of this matter and further information regarding the way forward will follow in the coming days.
