STEEL- AND RELATED INDUSTRIES

ITAC to perform extensive duty review

ALL AFFECTED PARTIES TO PARTICIPATE

Dear employer

Minister Parks Tau has instructed the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) to complete a tariff review of chapters 72, 73, 82 and 83 by June 2025.

The relevant chapters of the Customs and Excise Act, which will come under review, include products ranging from iron, steel and various products made from these materials, ranging from tools, implements and cutlery, to razors, blades, scissors and shears. These tariff codes can have its duties raised or reduced. Approximately R66 billion of imports into South Africa are covered by this particular review.

All affected parties should ensure they are aware of the extent of this review and its effect on their businesses.
