If Government cannot maintain an embassy, what makes you think it can run anything else?

Dear employer

South Africa House has represented this country in London since 1933.

This year, it closed its doors.

Government calls it a planned upgrade. The truth is decades of deferred maintenance.

It is not the only case. Our embassy in The Hague sits abandoned.

Government’s own Auditor General found that foreign assets under this department have been mismanaged to the point of being “uninhabitable.”

Meanwhile, South Africa still spends billions on programmes that do nothing for this economy.

In this enclosed episode of The Employer’s Voice, Gerhard Papenfus explains why this is not a foreign affairs story. It is a preview of exactly what South Africans face every day.
