Why Steel Import Tariffs Should Be Scrapped

Gerhard Papenfus was interviewed on Power FM, discussing why steel import tariffs should be scrapped.

Gerhard Papenfus, is of the opinion that Amsa has failed to upgrade their out-dated steel plants. Instead they convinced government to introduce tariffs in order to protect them against cheaper high quality Chinese steel. ITAC’s chief commissioner, Siyabulela Tsengiwe, said several parties had been consulted regarding the import tariffs.
