The National Employers Association of South Africa has embarked on a nationwide roadshow to get a mandate from its members regarding the stalled negotiations in the metal industry. The local manufacturing sector is bracing for a possible crippling strike from July. After months of talks between unions and employers in the metal and engineering industry, it ended in deadlock earlier this month. And there are fears that a major strike could further erode the country’s manufacturing capabilities. Lesedi FM interviewed NEASA CE, Gerhard Papenfus, on these matters.
