BUSINESSES AFFECTED BY ONGOING STRIKE ACTION

Have your say

Dear employer

Transnet announced on Monday that it had reached an agreement with the United National Transport Union (UNTU), which represents 54% of unionised employees at Transnet, for a three-year wage deal.

The announced agreement includes a 6% increase in year one, a 5.5% increase in year two, and a 6% increase in year three.

Workers from the SA Transport and Allied Workers Union (Satawu), on the other hand, have rejected the Commission of Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration’s (CCMA) recommendations to try and solve its wage dispute with Transnet.

The strike action, which began 12 days ago, is threatening to bring certain parts of our economy to its knees.

A Transnet statement said the deal with UNTU has the effect of ending the industrial action.

NEASA requests your input and commentary regarding the effect of the Transnet strike on your business.

Please complete the short survey.
