Technical Students Available to Employers: Do you need technical resources in your business?
Technical Students Available to Employers
Do you need technical resources in your business?
We are excited to inform the NEASA members that Government funding has been made available towards placing technical students with employers in apprenticeships, learnerships and qualification-linked technical programs.
NEASA Youth Development would like employers to benefit from these initiatives by hosting technical students.
NEASA Youth Development Program is in partnership with several technical training institutes, and we have committed to taking hands with these institutions towards training and job creation for South Africa’s youth.

Benefits for a NEASA member when hosting a technical student:
- no financial cost to the employer in respect of theoretical training as students have already completed their academic component;
- access to Government funding towards a contribution to the student’s monthly stipend while on the program;
- access to additional entry-level technical labour at minimal cost to the company;
- increasing the company’s workforce by feeding the company’s technical recruitment pipeline; and
- the convenience of additional workers without committing to permanent employment after the program.
Participation Requirements:
- the student must work under the supervision of a qualified mentor of the same trade; and
- workplace approval certificates from a registered SETA for certain trades.
NEASA Youth can assist employers free of charge to apply for workplace approval if this is not already in place.
Cost to the employer:
- R1 950 (excluding VAT) per month, per student. This fee covers the administration cost and the services fee to NEASA; and
- a top-up on the student’s monthly stipend (at the employer’s discretion).
If you are interested in students of any of the above trades, please select the relevant trade above. A NEASA Youth Development Consultant will contact you to share more detail.
We look forward to partnering with you toward the development of South Africa’s Youth.
