TECHNICAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM: Technical Apprentices Available to Employers
TECHNICAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM
Technical Apprentices Available to Employers
NEASA Youth Development would like to offer qualifying employers the opportunity to participate in a Transport Education Training Authority (TETA) funded program, to host, train and employ apprentices after their qualification as artisans.
This program allows employers to benefit from the national Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) funded projects.
Through participating in this program, employers will also contribute to the further development of young apprentices in becoming qualified artisans, thus ensuring a future supply of well-trained artisans to the industry.
Click here to view the available trades and locations of the apprentices.
The apprentices are currently being trained at the Artisan Training Institute in Roodepoort, for a period of 6 months, excluding the Spray Painters, who are being trained at the Motus Training Centre in Wadeville, Germiston.
The apprentices will be matched with a host-employer to do their practical training and to get the relevant and suitable workplace exposure within a real-life workplace environment.
The total value of the funding provided by TETA can amount to R255 000, per apprentice. Click here to view a breakdown of this benefit.
TETA funds the monthly stipend of R2 500 for each apprentice for the duration of 24 – 30 months.
The cost for the employer will be R4 450 per month, per apprentice. This comprises of:
- a top-up of the apprentice’s stipend with an additional R2 500 per month, for the duration of the apprenticeship, paid directly to the apprentice; and
- the administrative cost / services fee, per apprentice, is R1 950 (excl. VAT), per month, for the duration of the apprenticeship.
Participation Requirements for Employers:
- the apprentice must work under the supervision of a qualified artisan of the same trade;
- only employers with workplace approval certificates from a registered SETA are eligible to participate in the program. We can assist employers, free of charge, to apply for workplace approval, if this is not already in place; and
- a training schedule will be made available to employers.
