• We cannot pay our employees; they have to apply for UIF. Business has gone down by 90%. Throughout the year, the business survived and endured, but the impact of steel shortage for me and my employees basically has ruined Christmas. I cannot see why we need to close the business for the festive season when not a single employee will receive a salary to buy food. How will they afford presents for their children?

• It is disgraceful how we are being held hostage by a rapacious monopoly.

        Tubing is virtually unattainable. We are spending hours each day phoning around                        searching for pipe and tubing.

• I have to wonder, where is NUMSA in all of this?

           They don’t seem to care about workers in the downstream industries.

• Import duties will create a steel mafia, with illegal imports, crime and corruption.
