STEEL INDUSTRY: The effect of the toxic combination of IMPORT DUTIES and AMSA's INABILITY TO SUPPLY
The effect of the toxic combination of
IMPORT DUTIES
and
AMSA’s INABILITY TO SUPPLY
More business responses
- The shortage of material is affecting our manufacturing drastically. Not only have the prices increased by 30% since the lockdown, but the shortage of raw material is almost at the point that we have to close our business with over 150 people.
- The shortages have impacted our business terribly. We are even losing out on orders now.
Why is this not in the news??
- We have lost work due to us not being able to source the steel to do the jobs.
Our livelihood is at stake, and we have been in business since 1981.
This is absolutely pathetic.
- As a small manufacturer, we try to keep prices as low as possible. Due to the scarcity of steel, we are losing clients on a regular basis. With the increased prices of steel due to the scarcity, most of our projects end up becoming expensive for the end-user and they usually opt to do without them, especially safety gates, burglar bars, etc. This results in more breaking and thefts, hence creating a vicious circle.
How is AMSA’s inability to supply the market affecting your business?
