The effect of the toxic combination of

IMPORT DUTIES
and
AMSA’s INABILITY TO SUPPLY

More business responses

  • Manufacturing is our bread and butter and with the steel shortages, we are unable to provide quotes on certain jobs. This is costing us sales.
  • We are losing valuable customers because of the short supply of steel.
  • We have been on short time since August 2020.

Our workers will have only 19% of their normal income in December due to the steel              shortage by AMSA.

  • We have been in the structural steel business for 25 years and we have never experienced such ridiculous shortages. There is no roof sheeting available; Heavy and light steel is hard to come by.

How are we supposed to run a business like this? Our customers are jumping up and              down. We cannot believe what a mess this industry is in.

  • We have had to lay off at least 60 workers due to material shortages, the impact of the steel shortage on the steel downstream, particularly, the construction sites is devastating.

Without a roof, everything else is on hold.

  • We cannot get cold-rolled tube anywhere and hot-rolled tube is even more difficult to find in the sizes we need. Getting sheet is a nightmare. This is a busy time of the year in our business and the steel shortages is causing us to miss deadlines and orders cancelled.

We have had to use more expensive materials to complete orders without being able to          adjust our prices.

Nice going Mr. President and Ministers, yet another unnecessary body blow to an already            ailing economy.
