PRICE PREFERENCE SYSTEM (PPS) TO BE REVIEWED

Dear Steel Industry employer

The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition has directed ITAC to review the Price Preference System (PPS) on scrap steel.

Should the PPS be scrapped or reduced it will have significant consequences for both scrap dealers as well as manufacturers.

Employers who are affected by the PPS are therefore invited to submit comments on whether the PPS discount on ferrous metals, currently set at 30%, should be reviewed by submitting comments to Dmogale@itac.org.za by no later than Thursday, 22 May 2025.
