Dear Gerhard

You have been running with this testimonials campaign now probably for more than a month. It is clear that the market does not support the duties yet there is no feedback and/or any form of engagement from ITAC, the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition or from AMSA.

The pointless, useless garbage that they keep on regurgitating makes no sense whatsoever.

The real question is how long can the South African economy sustain this death spiral of the duties before this, coupled with Covid-19, simply crushes the entire industrial base of the economy.

It actually sometimes appears as if this is intentional – to what end I don’t know.

When is our government going to start acting? The proposals by the Steel Downstream are simply ignored.

For several weeks we have been trying to buy from AMSA – to no avail. Because of the Dufferco announcement, AMSA will not be able to service our orders until 2021 Q1.

Does   ITAC/Government  understand   for   one   moment   what   the   impact   of   that   is   on   the   Downstream?

Completely frustrated!!
