SAFTU PROTEST ACTION

Dear employer

The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) has indicated that they will be joining the protest of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) on 20 March 2023.

The protest action has been approved by the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) and therefore has protected status.

The effect of this is that employees who fail to report for duty on said date, in order to participate in the protest action, may not be disciplined for absenteeism. However, the normal principles of no-work-no-pay will be applicable.
