Road Freight Industry: Mandate required.
ROAD FREIGHT INDUSTRY
MANDATE REQUIRED
Dear Road Freight Industry employer
The Main Collective Agreement concluded under the auspices of the Road Freight Council expires on 29 February 2024.
However, due to the protracted nature of negotiations, parties to the Council have already engaged in exploratory talks in order to conclude an agreement in a timely manner, without any disruption to the Industry.
The issue is further complicated by the fact that the trade union parties to the Council currently have a very low level of representativity in the Sector. This fact has moved employers to present a proposal to the trade unions to consider the rolling over of the current agreement for another year to 2025, with only wages to be adjusted, in order to allow trade unions to increase membership figures before negotiations on any other substantive issues can occur.
The trade unions have now confirmed that they are amenable to such a proposal, subject to an across-the-board increase for all chambers of 7% on wages, minimum entry-level wage and allowances.
The proposed increase for Extended Bargaining Unit employees below grade C1 is also 7%, but only 6% from grade C1 upwards.
Should employers agree to this proposal, there will be no further negotiations before the expiry of the agreement in 2025.
Employers are required to provide NEASA with a mandate in this regard by no later than 12:00 on 19 May 2023.
