APPLICATION OF INCREASES

Dear Road Freight Industry employer

NEASA has received a number of queries regarding the manner in which the across the board increases (ATB) in terms of the new Road Freight Council Main Agreement should be applied.

There seems to be some confusion as to the interaction between the ATB increases and the new minimum wage for each category which we have clarified hereunder:

1. The ATB percentage increase is first applied to the actual wages currently being paid to a particular employee.
2. The increased actual wage must be compared to the new minimum.
3. Should the new actual wage be below the new minimum, such wage will have to be increased to the new minimum.
4. Should the new actual wage be on or above the new minimum, that wage will apply and no further adjustment is required.
