NUMSA Withdraws their appeal

Following an urgent application by NEASA and the Plastic Converters’ Association of SA (PCASA), the Labour Court, in 2017, set aside the decision by the MEIBC to request the Minister of Labour to extend its Registration and Administrative Expenses Agreement (Admin Levies Agreement) to non-parties due to the non-compliance with legislative requirements.

NUMSA subsequently filed an appeal against the Labour Court’s decision, which appeal would have been heard in February 2018.

However, NUMSA recently withdrew their appeal. The withdrawal of NUMSA’s appeal has the effect that the important legal principles established in the Labour Court’s initial judgement remains intact.
