NUMSA Protest Action

NUMSA PROTEST ACTION 

Dear Employer
 
NUMSA, on 8 July 2015, filed a notice with the National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) of its intention to embark on a series of nationwide protest actions.
 
According to NUMSA, the industrial action is aimed at highlighting the escalating levels of corruption in South Africa.
 
NUMSA has served notice that the first of these demonstrations will commence on 30 September 2015.
 
NEDLAC has, however, declined to provide permission for the march to proceed on 30 September 2015. Despite this NUMSA has decided to proceed with the march in the absence of this legal requirement.
 
This action by NUMSA constitutes unprotected protest action and employers are entitled to take disciplinary action against any employees participating in the march.
