Negotiations Update: MEIBC
NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE
Dear Metal Industry Employer
The Management Committee (MANCO) of the MEIBC met on 21 June 2017 in order to process the various disputes filed by the parties to the MEIBC.
The MANCO resolved that, in an attempt to resolve the disputes, a sub-committee will be established to discuss the issues concerned. This committee will meet on 28 and 29 June and 5 and 6 July. It is unlikely that industrial action will commence before these meetings have been concluded; it may however commence very soon thereafter.
PLASTICS SECTOR
It should be noted that NUMSA referred a separate dispute in the Plastics Sector which the employer parties to the MEIBC refused to process as we believe that the dispute is fatally flawed. The plastics negotiations have already been concluded within the Plastics Negotiating Forum. NUMSA indicated that, as a consequence of this refusal, they will be requesting a certificate of non-resolution for the Plastics Sector – an approach we believe is flawed.
We will inform employers in the Plastics Sector of developments in this regard.
Regards
Our government has not only failed to protect the freedom
that creates prosperity,
but it has become destructive of that freedom.
To create jobs we must restore prosperity and to restore prosperity we must restore freedom.
