NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Dear Motor Industry employer

Despite the fact that there have been two rounds of negotiations between employer- and employee parties to the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO), there is no progress to report.

Although NUMSA indicated that they will reduce their demands during the 2nd session, they reneged on this undertaking. It seems clear that no progress will be made until the Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers have completed their negotiations.

Negotiations are to resume on Thursday, 1 August 2019. Mandates will be requested as soon as NUMSA have crystallised their demands and the real negotiating issues have been identified.
