2016 WAGE NEGOTIATIONS

Dear Industry Employer

The third round of wage negotiations took place on 28 and 29 June 2016.

The employer parties' position has remained unchanged in respect of their demands, namely that NUMSA has to abandon its demands in respect of the realignment of the Industry sectors, as well as its insistence on a one year agreement.

As the parties could not reach agreement on these fundamental issues, NUMSA declared a dispute and a dispute meeting has consequently been scheduled for Wednesday, 13 July 2016. Should agreement not be reached at that meeting a process of mediation will commence.

Members will be kept informed of developments and mandates will be requested at the appropriate time.
