LABOUR COURT LITIGATION UPDATE

Dear Steel Industry employer

In our previous communique we indicated the Labour Court application to review and set aside the decision of the MEIBC, to request the Minister of Labour to extend the Administration – and Main Agreement of the Council, had been set down to be heard on 7 November 2018.

However, subsequent to that, the Department of Labour has returned both these agreements to the MEIBC due to substantial defects.

Consequently, the matter had to be removed from the Court roll of 7 November as it would no longer be viewed as urgent by the Labour Court.

The matter will be set down again on an appropriate future date.

We will keep employers abreast of developments in this regard.
