EXEMPTION GUIDELINES DO NOT APPLY TO YOU

Dear Steel Industry employer
 
The MEIBC recently circulated a memorandum setting out guidelines to apply for exemption from the so-called “Consolidated Main Agreement”.
 
This communique is blatantly and deliberately misleading:

• the agreement they refer to only applies to businesses somehow affiliated to Seifsa, a minority SMME-hostile organisation, which represents 10 percent of employers in the Steel Industry;
• the remaining 90 percent of employers in the Steel Industry have nothing to do with this agreement; therefore
• this MEIBC communique belongs in your waste basket. 

If there is any development in this regard, we will immediately inform you, and in doing so, give you the correct information.

NEASA will do everything in its power to prevent this business-hostile, industry- and job-destroying agreement from being extended to the non-signatories to the agreement.
