Hospitality Sector: New Minimum Wage

HOPSITALITY SECTOR

NEW MINIMUM WAGE

Dear Industry Employer

Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has approved an increased minimum wage for the Hospitality Sector with effect from 1 July 2016. The new minimum wage will be applicable until 30 June 2017.

In terms of the new sectoral determination the minimum wages for employers with 10 or less employees are as follows:

• Monthly: R 2 959,35;

• Weekly: R 682,97; and

• Hourly: R 15,17.

The new minimum wages for employers with 10 or more employees has increased to:

• Monthly: R 3 298,52;

• Weekly: R 761,25; and

• Hourly: R 16,91.
