EMPLOYMENT EQUITY AMENDMENT ACT AND REGULATIONS - 2024 EE REPORTING PERIOD
Dear employer
Since the Employment Equity Amendment Act (EEAA) and its regulations have not come into operation yet, the Department of Employment and Labour has confirmed that the status quo in respect of reporting remains unchanged.
Consequently, all designated employers must submit their 2024 EE reports using the current Act and regulations. This includes employers employing less than 50 employees but with a turnover exceeding the thresholds in the Act.
The 2024 EE reporting period will open on 1 September 2024 and close on 15 January 2025.
NEASA advocates for the right of employers to run their business as they see fit, including the right for merit-based appointment employment practices. Should the EEAA and its regulations, which infringes on this right of employers, come into operation at any stage, NEASA will immediately commence with litigation.
