DESIST FROM PAYMENT OF ADMINISTRATION LEVIES

 
Dear Industry Employer
 
On 15 July 2015, the Motor Industry Bargaining Council (MIBCO) circulated a letter pertaining to the payment of administration levies to the Council.
 
Their letter stated, among others, that even though the Administration Agreement has lapsed, employers may continue to pay the administration levies on a voluntary basis.
 
This statement is blatantly false and misleading.
 
In the absence of an extended agreement, employers are legally not entitled to deduct administration levies from employees or to contribute to these levies.
 
Employers who have been deducting and paying over administration levies after 31 January 2015 should cease this immediately and are advised to contact MIBCO for a full refund.
