TERS-FUNDING TO BE FACILITATED BY THE COUNCIL

Dear Steel Industry employer

The MEIBC and the Department of Employment and Labour are currently in discussion regarding the conclusion of an agreement which will allow the MEIBC to facilitate the payment of TERS-funding to employers in the sector.

The Department has indicated previously that it will be utilising bargaining councils to perform this function as it will not be able to deal with thousands of claims from individual employees.

We are currently awaiting a directive from the MEIBC as to exactly how this process will be administered.

At this period of time, we know that a letter of authority will be required.

We will provide employers with more information as soon as it becomes available.
