NBCRFLI LEAVE ADVANCEMENT

Dear employer

On 26 March 2020 the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industries issued a circular to the industry informing employers and employees that it will assist with temporary relief during the national lockdown in respect of annual leave. To view the circular, click here.

In order to apply for the annual leave advancement, an employer is requested to furnish the Council with written confirmation, including electronic communication from both employer and employee indicating that the employee has agreed to such leave advancement.

However, this resulted in practical difficulties where a company may be unable to contact an employee and is therefore not able to obtain the requisite written consent, or in the case of a company with a large employee component, it is impractical to contact every employee and obtain written consent.

We have since reached an understanding with the bargaining council that NEASA members who are unable to obtain the required written consent may inform the Council that as NEASA members they were faced with this difficulty and the application will then be processed without accepting liability for any claims from such employees.
