COVID-19 Lockdown Level 4: Transportation of shift workers

COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

LEVEL 4

TRANSPORTATION OF SHIFT WORKERS

Dear employer

The curfew imposed on movement before 5:00 and after 20:00 has caused some concern for businesses who are running a shift system with regards to transportation of shift workers after the curfew.

The major issue was that, in terms of the regulations, public transport may not operate during the curfew hours. It seems, however, that employers are entitled to contract public transport companies to transport their specific employees during curfew hours.

All employees must be in possession of the necessary permits, as well as confirmation from the manager, supervisor or other person in authority as to the working times of the enterprise.

Employers may of course provide private transport to employees should they wish to do so.
