CLAIMS FOR WORKPLACE ACQUIRED CORONA VIRUS

Dear employer

The progressive relaxation of the Covid-19 lockdown will enable the return of many employees to the workplace.

This will, inevitably, result in a spike in the number of Covid-19 infections and a number of these infections may well occur in the workplace.

To this end, the Department of Employment and Labour has issued a directive as to how to deal with claims for benefits from the Workmen’s Compensation Fund, where a workplace acquired Covid-19 infection has occurred.

The directive sets out criteria for diagnosis, the process to be followed in order to claim, as well as the required forms to be used to submit a claim.
