MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF EARNINGS

Dear employer

Section 83 of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, 130 of 1993, states that “an employer shall be assessed by the Commissioner according to the tariff of assessment calculated on the basis of such percentage of the annual earnings of his employees”.

On 9 April 2020, the Minister of Employment and Labour amended the maximum amount of earnings, on which an assessment of an employer shall be calculated by the Commissioner, to R484 200 per annum with effect from 1 March 2020.
