Letter by employer:
Dear Seifsa President,
How can you publish such an article, admitting that you know the hardships companies face in South Africa?
You are clearly stating you know, that we as employers struggle to keep our doors open and our loyal staff employed, due to economic crisis and loadshedding, not to mention skewed duty tarrifs and crumbling infrastructure, while conveniently leaving out the role you play in this country’s imminent down fall.
Instead of fighting to increase job opportunities, for the 65% unemployed youth you hardhandedly force the few SME’s in the Metal and Engineering sector, who somehow has survived the worst this country has to throw at them, to pay salaries way higher than any other sector in the country, forcing our hands at retrenching more of our employees or face not being competitive in the market and there by loosing sales and then having to retrench our employees anyway, or facing having to close our doors permanently, because you are doing your utmost to ensure we cannot be profitable and grow our companies.
Talk about bad policy choices and economic mismanagement. *slow clap*
How can you claim, that you are “for” a conductive business environment, while stong-arming and entire sector into their down fall.
I know you are extremely proud of yourselves.
For the life of me I can not see why.
Regards
A small manufacturer who will fight the hard fights to survive in spite of you.
