Zimbabwean Exemption Permits (ZEPs): EXTENDED.
Dear employer
On 7 October 2025, the Minister of Home Affairs gazetted a notice extending the validity period of Zimbabwean Exemption Permits (“ZEPs”) for a further 18 months after the previous expiry date of 28 November 2025.
Therefore, ZEPs will now be valid until 28 May 2027.
All existing ZEPs shall therefore be deemed to be valid, and holders will be allowed to remain and be employed in South Africa.
Additionally, according to the notice, no ZEP holder should be required to produce a valid exemption certificate, visa or an authorisation letter to remain in South Africa when making an application for any category of the visa for temporary sojourn in the Republic.
For any enquiries in this regard, NEASA advises the utilisation of the services of a specialist immigration practitioner, Henry Harper, by sending an e-mail to henry@hasslefree.co.za.
