'Time flies' - use it wisely

2014 IS DRAWING TO A CLOSE

Dear Friend

We've come to the end of another year. All that's left of our best moments and our disappointments might only be vague memories. Most of us live life in the fast lane (which is not something to boast about) and often miss the opportunity to stop and ponder about the good and the not so good; to look at things in order to see it for what it really is.

The danger of a life in the fast lane is that we are constantly at risk of careless living. We give too much attention to the things which shout the loudest, which appears to demand immediate attention, but which eventually turns out to be frivolous; and then neglect those things which do not scream for our immediate attention, but if neglected, can eventually spoil an otherwise good life.

During this year some of us experienced really tough interventions in our lives: the loss of a loved one, sickness or severe financial difficulties; some literally lived in the 'shadow of death'. Each one of us is constantly fighting lonely battles. Some are able to hide theirs better than others.

I've come to realise, very inconveniently, that hardship is the origin of the best stories. There are riches hidden in 'darkness'. It is therefore crucial for us to commit ourselves to embrace and not avoid that which is challenging and uncertain. The outcome of great stories can never be predicted.

Thank you for your outstanding support throughout this past year.

We wish you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season and a blessed and abundant 2015. We are looking forward to take on 2015 with renewed energy.
